The Square

In the background you may be able, if you look closely enough, to spot Vancouver's official bird, the crane. They're everywhere in Vancouver right now. Almost impossible to take a picture without one showing up somewhere.

Hannah and the puppies

Granville Station, Eastbound platform.

The most amazing thing: Hannah was so focused on getting on the next train that she didn't notice the puppies.

Going up...

When you get off the Skytrain at the Granville Station you're effectively three floors underground. This escalator is a steep, long ride (we were 1/3 of the way up when I shot this) just to get to the basement of the Bay. Fun stuff, as long as you don't look back.

Ben

We went to Vancouver today. Just the kids and me. Wandered the Art Gallery, Robson Square (where this was shot), and had lunch at White Spot. A stereotypical Vancouver day. It was awesome.

I have never travelled over this bridge (the Lion's Gate Bridge, that is), unless it was when I was too young to truly solidify the memory in my brain. I have travelled over every other bridge in the Vancouver area, but this one, which seems so legendary, eludes me.

Eludes me. I like that phrase.

I am impressed by people who can live this way, even for the summer. I am enamoured with the idea that I could just go anywhere at anytime and see things I've never seen.

On the other hand, I might be constantly reminded of what I ate.

Out of this world

So we took the kids "cosmic bowling" and they loved it. Ben took it too seriously and Hannah was happy to have the bumpers up. These were taken by steadying my camera on the scorekeeping machine and stopping down the aperture and bringing the shutter speed to a halt. It gave all my bowling photos an other-worldly glow, but I like it.
